Welcome to Mess Buddy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Mess Buddy mobile application and related services (the "Service") operated by BuddyCoders ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Mess Buddy, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Mess Buddy. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old and that your use complies with any applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
2. Account Registration
You may register using an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access at [email protected]
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Mess Buddy only for its intended purpose — managing shared household (mess) finances, meals, and coordination. You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or backend systems
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service without permission
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
4. Mess Administration
Each mess has an Admin user who can configure settings, add bills, manage members, and approve or reject payments. The Admin role carries responsibility for the accuracy of financial records within the mess. BuddyCoders is not a party to any financial transactions or disputes between mess members and takes no responsibility for the accuracy of data entered by users.
5. Financial Data & Payments
Important: Mess Buddy is a record-keeping and coordination tool, not a payment processor. We do not handle, transfer, or hold any money on your behalf. All actual financial transactions (e.g., bKash transfers) occur outside the app between members directly.
Users are responsible for the accuracy of all financial data they enter. BuddyCoders accepts no liability for financial disputes between mess members arising from incorrect data entry.
6. Coins & Rewards
Mess Buddy includes a virtual coin system used to unlock features such as PDF exports. Coins have no monetary value, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for real currency. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the coin system at any time without compensation.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of Mess Buddy — including software, text, graphics, logos, and icons — are the property of BuddyCoders and protected under applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
You retain ownership of all data you input into the Service (mess records, meal entries, etc.). By using the Service you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that data solely for providing the Service to you.
8. Privacy
Your use of Mess Buddy is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Service Availability
We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the Service temporarily for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or that defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BuddyCoders shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed BDT 500 (five hundred taka).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BuddyCoders and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
13. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and without prior notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive.
You may delete your account at any time from the app's Profile settings.
14. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangladesh.
16. Advertising
Mess Buddy is supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob. The Service may display banner ads and optional rewarded ads that you voluntarily choose to watch in order to unlock certain actions (for example, editing a bazar entry). You are never required to click an ad, and choosing not to watch an optional rewarded ad simply means the related action stays locked at that moment.
You agree not to interfere with, block in a manner that violates these Terms, or fraudulently interact with the ads shown in the Service (including automated or repeated clicks). The data collected to serve ads is described in our Privacy Policy.
17. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
Mess Buddy may offer optional one-time purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions (such as an ad-free or premium tier). All purchases are processed and billed through your Google Play account; we do not collect or store your payment details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing & cancelling. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription anytime under Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Refunds. Purchases are governed by Google Play's refund policy. Except where required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable.
- Price changes. We may change prices or the features included in a paid tier. Material changes will be notified in advance and, where required, will ask for your consent before renewal.
Premium features, their availability, and pricing may change or be discontinued. Virtual benefits unlocked through a purchase have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash.
