MessBuddy is a mess management app for student messes, hostels and bachelor flats. You run your own mess in it, tracking each person’s meals, rotating the bazar duty, splitting bills, and keeping one ledger so nobody has to argue about money. It is on Google Play and the web, with iOS on the way.
Tap “Create a mess” and a short setup wizard walks you through naming it, choosing which meals you track, picking a rate algorithm, setting cutoff times, adding rooms and seats, and whether you join the bazar rotation. You become the admin, and you get a mess code plus per-seat invite codes to share with members.
Ask your mess admin for your personal 12-character invite code. Open MessBuddy, tap “Join a mess”, enter the code, review the room and seat reserved for you, agree to the house rules, and you are in. Each invite code is tied to one seat and works only once.
The admin sets up and runs the mess — rooms, the rate algorithm, bills, approvals and invites. Members log their meals, take their bazar turns, and pay their share. An admin can also take part like a member, and admin rights can be transferred later.
You choose the algorithm: fixed rate, weighted, or market rate. The rate is your total bazar spend split across meals by that method, recalculated as members log meals and add receipts. Everyone sees the same number, so settlement is simple arithmetic.
Yes. Everything you set during setup — the rate algorithm, meal cutoff times, and rooms and seats — can be changed any time from Settings. Rate-algorithm changes take effect from the start of the next month, so the current month’s numbers stay consistent.
Yes. MessBuddy is built for Bangladesh first, so every amount is in taka, and you can attach a bKash or cash payment to any bill or settlement.
MessBuddy keeps an automatic round-robin roster. On your day you upload the receipt, and if you cannot make it you swap with someone in a tap. Every spend stays visible to the whole mess.
Yes. Beyond the automatic rotation, MessBuddy lets you assign the bazar to any date you choose. On the free plan you can unlock a date assignment by watching a short ad; on Premium you can assign by date anytime, with no ads.
Your ledger is visible only to your mess members, and your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We show ads to keep the free plan free, but we never sell your money data or share it with advertisers, and you can export everything at any time.
It works best when everyone joins, but an admin can log meals and bills for members who have not yet. MessBuddy runs on Google Play and in any browser, so there is nothing anyone has to download.
